Woolworths Holdings said on Monday group sales for the 52 weeks ended June 27 were expected to rise by 9.7% as trading across the group continued to improve from the impact of COVID-19 restrictions.

The retailer, which also operates in Australia and New Zealand, said 11 Woolworths stores had been looted and severely damaged, in one of the country’s worst unrest in years, with nine of the 11 stores in KwaZulu Natal province and two in Gauteng.
