Since receiving the news late last week that one of our managerial employees tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, we have been working with the Department of Health to screen, and where necessary test, our production staff. Those employees who were in direct contact with the said employee and those who are awaiting the results of their tests have been quarantined.

Our entire facility has been disinfected by an independent contracted cleaning company. We are also working closely with the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) to ensure that all the necessary processes have been followed.

Currently, this manager is the only person who has tested positive and he is not involved with food production.

We have taken the added precautionary measure of temporarily closing our facility to ensure the safety of our staff. Over this time we will revisit our COVID-19 risk assessment and to ensure that we have adequately addressed all associated risks.

We would like to reassure you that Fry’s takes the matter of food safety very seriously and has always, even before the onset of the pandemic, followed stringent food hygiene procedures throughout our facility as part of our high levels of quality control. Our food safety
procedures include, amongst others, all production staff showering before entry into our factory, the daily issuing of freshly washed uniforms to all production staff members, a stringent hand washing procedure, the sanitising of hands and surfaces throughout the production shift, as well as the compulsory wearing of face masks, hair nets and beard snoods where applicable.

All machines are disinfected every 4 hours and once a week our entire facility is disinfected. We have also instituted a number of additional controls since the pandemic, for example an infrared thermometer at the entrance to our facility to identify those with temperatures, a COVID19 questionnaire for all entering our facility and social distancing rules.

Our management team is working alongside the NICD to assure our production staff that our facility is safe to presume production, which will enable to us to supply our customers once again. We apologize for any disruptions in supply, but are confident that we will be up and running again soon.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our employee who has contracted the virus. We hope that he recovers quickly and that his family remains safe and healthy.

We would like to thank our staff, our suppliers and our customers for their continued support. We will inform everyone when the factory reopens.

Should you have further queries, please send them to and we will get back to you shortly.
